The Department of Medical Services, through the Institute of Dermatology, points out the side effects of injecting foreign substances into the skin. Currently, there is a significant increase in the popularity of injecting fillers or foreign substances into the skin, which can be dangerous if used improperly.
Popularity of filler injections
Dr. Somsak Akkasilp, Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, revealed that there is currently a significant increase in the popularity of injecting fillers or foreign substances into the skin to enhance beauty. These foreign substances may be substances approved for “topical” use on the upper skin layer
but are misused by injecting into the skin or substances intended for “intravenous injection” directly, resulting in various side effects as follows:
- Dangers from injecting “foreign substances” into the skin include skin infections, swelling, redness, tenderness, or pus formation. These may occur immediately within a few weeks after injection or may develop over a long term.
Formation of lumps under the skin layer called granulomas, which are swollen lumps that may or may not be accompanied by inflammation. - Vascular occlusion may occur, causing pain or numbness at or near the injection site.
The injection area may show abnormal coloration, such as bruising or pallor.
There may be burning, dryness, and redness of the skin more than usual at the treatment site.

How to check medical facilities before using services
Dr. Mingkwan Wichaidit, Director of the Institute of Dermatology, Department of Medical Services, added that consumers should verify the following before injection:
- Check whether the injection product is properly registered.
- Verify that the doctor performing the treatment is licensed.
- Confirm that the medical facility providing the injection is legally authorized.
- Ensure that the injection equipment is new and replaced for every patient before treatment.
- If complications or side effects occur, consumers should promptly consult a specialist for timely treatment.

Doctors warn Thai men about penis enlargement injections: risk of irreversible damage leading to amputation
The Department of Medical Services, through Rajavithi Hospital, reveals that penis enlargement injections remain popular among Thai men, especially teenagers aged 20-30. They warn that the injected liquids are foreign substances, and the body reacts to these foreign materials.
The body tries to eliminate them, causing the penis to become deformed, hard lumps to form, the foreskin to become non-retractable, and skin wounds on the penis. If the injected foreign substances are not clean, severe infections may occur, potentially requiring amputation of the penis.
Dr. Narong Apikulwanit, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, disclosed that online advertising is currently popular among Thai people, especially young men and women seeking confidence in their sexuality, leading to misunderstandings.
This is evident from social media encouraging men interested in penis enlargement by injecting various substances into their bodies, believing it will increase satisfaction for their partners during intercourse.
Each year, many teenagers who enlarge their penis by injecting foreign substances seek treatment at hospitals. Medical evidence confirms that the average length of the Thai male penis is about 4 inches, which is proportionate.
Concerns about the shape and size of the penis
Dr. Somkiat Lalitwongsa, Director of Rajavithi Hospital, stated that some men worry about the shape and size of their penis during intercourse, which is a cause of sexual stress and can lead to erectile dysfunction.
Those who inject or insert foreign substances into their penis may do so to boost confidence, based on the mistaken belief that a larger penis improves sexual performance or excitement. Injecting foreign substances
to make the penis resemble a bitter melon or noni fruit to increase size, which is currently a trend among Thai men, can cause serious harm. Initially, if the injected substance is not clean, severe infections may cause penile inflammation and pus.
Long-term dangers include hard, misshapen lumps on the penis, difficulty or pain during intercourse, chronic wounds, and in some cases, prolonged neglect can lead to penile cancer.
Besides the cost of injections, those who inject foreign substances into their penis must bear the treatment costs themselves when seeking hospital care, as reconstructive surgery is not covered by insurance.
Reconstructive surgery aims to restore the penis as close to its original state as possible by removing lumps and the skin injected with foreign substances and covering the penis with skin from the scrotum.
If too much foreign substance has been injected and scrotal skin cannot be used, skin from other parts of the body will be used to cover the penis, which may affect its function.
For those with severe infections or chronic wounds that progress to penile cancer, treatment may ultimately require amputation of the penis.
Summary: Foreign substances in the penis – What you should know
Educating at-risk populations about injecting foreign substances into the penis may help prevent this condition in the future.
Therefore, it is important to trust appropriate standards and, importantly, not fall victim to unlicensed practitioners, as this may lead to severe infections requiring amputation. If you believe your penis size is abnormal,
consult a specialist to find the right solution and take care of your health by eating a balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruits, exercising regularly, and getting enough rest.
Stimulate emotional feelings by maintaining a cheerful mind and avoiding stress to help achieve effective sexual activity.
