“Circumcision” When talking about this, many people probably already know what circumcision is, what distal circumcision looks like, from many previous articles that our clinic has presented for everyone to read.
We have also recommended the best circumcision methods, such as bloodless circumcision with the titanium model, which uses new technology with a disposable circumcision suture device (DCSC), helping to minimize pain and offering great value for the results.
Many people come to read and study information about circumcision and start deciding to circumcise the foreskin because they see the benefits of circumcision. However, they are still concerned about which type of circumcision is suitable for themselves. In this regard, you can consult initially with Dr. Beer before making a decision.
Today, Dr. Beer will explain the types of circumcision, how many types there are, how each differs, and what an ideal or good circumcision should be. Because some people searching on the internet may encounter many terms such as high, low / loose, tight, which might cause confusion and doubt. Today, Dr. Beer is here to answer
First, it is important to understand that the terms mentioned above are used in America, which is a country with a very high circumcision rate. But in Thailand, circumcision is still popular only among certain groups. Various medical fields recognize many benefits of circumcision, or some people who live abroad, such as studying overseas, and groups who follow Islam.
Currently, the number of people getting circumcised is increasing but it is still not widespread. Even doctors in Thailand are divided into two groups: one group who think they can live fine without circumcision and therefore do not recommend it to patients, and another group who see many benefits from circumcision, such as doctors who have studied abroad, especially in America.
For simplicity, I will briefly explain that anatomically, the foreskin of the human penis is divided into two layers called inner skin and outer skin. The American classification of high, low, tight, loose is based on the proportion of skin removed, meaning how much is taken off. Each type results in a different appearance of the penis, depending on personal preference.
Basic cutting techniques can be roughly divided as follows:
When erect, the skin is not very tight and can still move a bit. The advantage is that when wearing underwear, swimwear, or briefs, the skin covering the edge of the penis helps prevent the shape of the penis from being too visible.
• Minimal circumcision aims to preserve the original physical characteristics and sexual mechanism by removing only the excess skin at the tip of the penis. This helps those with very long foreskin or a very narrow tip that makes it difficult to retract the penis. Surgery helps to expose the glans for easier cleaning.
• Partial circumcision removes some of the foreskin, leaving some skin covering the glans when flaccid, but when erect, the urethral opening is fully exposed.
• Loose circumcision leaves the glans fully exposed after surgery. When flaccid, there is some wrinkled skin around the edge of the penis, except when the penis is very flaccid, such as in very cold weather, some skin may cover the edge.
• Tight circumcision removes a lot of the foreskin, leaving no loose skin around the edge of the penis when flaccid. When wearing underwear or swimwear, the shape of the glans is clearly visible. When erect, the skin cannot be moved up or down.

American cutting techniques that many people wonder about?
High loose The circumcision scar is below the coronal ridge area
+ The color difference is quite hard to notice because most of the inner foreskin has been removed
+ When flaccid, there is only a small amount of wrinkled skin left
– The nerve endings in the inner skin are removed
– There is a higher chance of needing a repeat circumcision if the results are unsatisfactory
High tight The distance between the circumcision scar and the coronal ridge is about 10 mm
+ Most nerve endings remain inside the skin and can be fully stimulated
+ When flaccid, a small amount of skin gathers at the coronal ridge
– There is a noticeable color difference between the inner and outer foreskin, which some people like but others may not
Low loose The circumcision scar is below the coronal ridge, and some foreskin may cover the glans
+ The color difference is quite hard to notice because most of the inner foreskin has been removed
– The nerve endings in the inner skin are removed
– There is a higher chance of needing a repeat circumcision if the results are unsatisfactory
– When flaccid, due to the remaining skin, a bunch of skin gathers below the coronal ridge, making it look like the person still has foreskin
– Makes hygiene maintenance inconvenient, similar to someone who is not circumcised
Low tight The minimum distance of 10 mm between the circumcision scar and the glans, but some skin can still gather below the coronal ridge
+ Most nerve endings remain inside the skin and can be fully stimulated
– When flaccid, due to the remaining skin, a bunch of skin gathers below the coronal ridge, making it look like the person still has foreskin but it can be retracted
– Makes hygiene maintenance inconvenient, similar to someone who is not circumcised
– There is a noticeable color difference between the inner and outer foreskin, which some people like but others may not
Let’s see what a Perfect circumcision (ideal circumcision) should consist of
– The amount of skin removed should be just right according to the patient’s needs, not too tight or too loose, or just as the patient desires
– The inner skin (the white part behind the glans and the thicker skin on the outside) should be removed evenly, making it look beautiful without distortion or leaving too much skin on one side
– If the frenulum is tight, it should be cut at the appropriate position along the glans line, leaving no skin tags
– The incision line (scar) should be along the median raphe of the penis
It is believed that many people who decide to get circumcised with the doctor already expect that besides minimal pain, fewer side effects, and quick healing, the surgery and suturing should be done well with a beautiful scar, and the amount of skin removed should meet the patient’s needs. Therefore, the ideal circumcision described here is what you get with Dr. Beer.
