Research results indicate that men often lie about their penis size being 21% larger than reality. A study from Denmark found that men tend to lie about the size and length of their genitalia. This study is titled “Small Reward, Big Size? Exploring the Influence of Money on Masculine Symbols,” which revealed that generally, men lie that their penis is 21% longer than it actually is.
The research team surveyed over 200 men who were asked to describe “masculine symbols reflecting physical superiority,” including athletic performance, height, weight, and genital size. The team compared the men’s survey responses with population averages and found that men overestimate their height, athletic performance, and penis size, while they tend to underestimate their weight.
Participants in this study researched penis size in society and sexual beauty standards
They were aged between 18 and 35 years, and the research team paid compensation, divided into two groups to study how the amount of compensation influences the men’s responses. The first group received 170 baht, while the second group received 750 baht. Here are the study results, focusing mainly on penis size.
The researchers found that
Men who received less compensation provided information about height, weight, and size that was significantly exaggerated. On average, they lied that their penis size was 21.1% longer than the average Danish man’s penis size, or about 1 in 5.
Compared to the global average penis size of 6 inches, this means men tend to claim their size is about 1 inch longer than reality (7.26 inches). However, men who received higher compensation also gave inaccurate information but to a lesser extent.
From over 200 men surveyed, the research team used data from 191 men. Some were excluded because they exaggerated their size and height excessively, including one who claimed his penis was 34 centimeters (13.38 inches) long, breaking world records. The team did not measure if this was true. Another case claimed his genital size was 50 times larger than a male elephant’s penis, which is the largest land animal penis in the world.
Behavior of lying or exaggerating penis size
Jacob Dalgard Christensen and his research colleagues believe that lying or exaggerating penis size stems from men’s desire to boost their self-confidence. Meanwhile, those who received higher compensation tended to provide information closer to reality.
Earlier this year, a team of medical researchers in urology from the US and Italy published the latest study in The World Journal of Men’s Health, stating that the size of the fully erect penis appears to have increased significantly and rapidly, especially over the past 30 years.
The survey found that
The length of the fully erect penis in many regions worldwide and across all age groups has increased by up to 24% over nearly three decades, a highly significant change. The average erect penis length increased from 12.3 centimeters (4.8 inches) to 15.2 centimeters (6 inches) today. Although men’s penis size has genuinely increased, the researchers noted that men still tend to lie that their size is longer than reality. They also warned that anyone conducting studies based on self-reported genital size rather than actual measurements should be cautious, as verbal reports do not match reality.
In summary, don’t trust men with penises
It is likely that the average man tends to lie more about penis size than about height, weight, and athletic ability. The research team concluded that because the penis is usually concealed, it is easier to lie about without being caught, compared to height, weight, and body shape, which are harder to fake.
